Water Tanker Collision on Shahrah-e-Quaideen Injures Family

A water tanker collided with a motorcycle on Karachi’s Shahrah-e-Quaideen, injuring a husband, wife, and their child. The family was riding the motorcycle when the accident occurred on Monday. According to police, the injured were quickly transported to Jinnah Hospital for medical treatment. Authorities reported that local bystanders, angered by the crash, set the water tanker on fire.

The police arrived at the scene shortly after the incident and managed to put out the fire. SSP East confirmed that a legal investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident. The accident comes amid rising traffic-related fatalities in the city, especially involving heavy vehicles.

Traffic accidents in Karachi have been a growing concern this year. As of August, at least 546 people lost their lives in crashes. Rescue data also shows that over 8,100 individuals were injured in accidents during the same period. Heavy vehicles, including water tankers, have been responsible for many of these deadly incidents.

Among heavy vehicles, trailers caused the most fatalities, killing 62 people. Water tankers were linked to 37 deaths, dumpers to 32, and buses to 20 fatalities. The rising death toll has alarmed authorities, prompting calls for stronger traffic enforcement and safety measures.

In response, officials have urged stricter enforcement of traffic laws and better road safety initiatives. With the growing number of fatal accidents, they emphasize the need for immediate action to protect the lives of Karachi’s residents.
